Moseley Junior Club Championships 2017

Moseley Mini & Junior Club Championships 2017

This year we have decided to do something different with the junior club championships.

We will splitting the mini tennis players away from the older junior players so as to enable a smoother day with less waiting around for events and prize giving. We would also like to give more visibility to the 12 years and older players to be better recognised by a wider range of the club. Further information will be sent out soon regarding both events including an appeal for volunteers to run the Mini Tennis Championships.

Mini Tennis Club Championships

Sunday 2nd July

9.30am - 1pm

Parent & Child Doubles

In order for your child to take part in this event they must be members of Moseley Tennis Club. Parents taking part in the Parent & Child Doubles do not have to be members.

If you would like to enter please put your name on the entry form situated on the junior board in the kitchen area. Your child can play in a maximum of two age groups.

Junior Club Championships

12&U Singles & Doubles

14&U Singles & Doubles

16&U Singles & Double

18&U Singles & Doubles

The finals of these events will be played alongside the Senior Club Championships on Sunday 17th September. All preliminary rounds will take place up to the semi-final stage before the end of the summer term. In choosing this approach we are hoping that we can better integrate the adults and juniors instead of it always being seen as separate parts of the club. I am also hoping to encourage more juniors to enter the senior events when they start at the end of August.

In order for you child to take part in this event they must be members of Moseley Tennis Club. Parents taking part in the Parent & Child Doubles do not have to be members.

BBC at Moseley Tennis Club

June 28, 2017

This is an invitation to all Moseley Tennis Club members (and non members!) to come down to the club THIS THURSDAY (June 29) when BBC WM is broadcasting a live show from there 4pm-7pm.

It's part of the BBC's Summer Tour where it takes its shows out of the studio and broadcasts them from locations across the West Midlands.

We're hoping as many members will be at the club to have a knock and welcome any new/prospective members who turn up.

(The BBC will also be doing live commentary on an MTC Mets match from 6.30pm so come and support them).

The bar will be open!

It's a great opportunity to show off our club to a wider audience.

BBC WM presenter Paul Franks will be broadcasting his normal news and current affairs show (95.6fm/digital) live from the club ..and will include interviews with club members about the history of MTC, its many success stories and exploring why so many people just love tennis! He may even try out our clay courts for himself.

And remember the bar will be open too..

The session will be organised and run by LTA Level 3 Coach Holly Reid.

While the first middle Sunday of Wimbledon attracted a few the main focus of Sunday 3rd July was the annual junior club championships. All matches were keenly contested especially the parent & child events. It was an amazing day with wonderful weather and from the smiles on the faces of both players & parents a fun day was had by all.

Many thanks go out to Matt Tully & Holly Reid for organising all the players and making sure matches ran on time. Thanks also go to all the volunteers whether helping on court, in the clubhouse kitchen, behind the bar or the BBQ.
